Solar, Lunar and Soli-Lunar Types There are 3 basic temperaments associated with the Sun and Moon and these are as follows: 1) Solar Type 2) Lunar Type 3) Soli-Lunar Types. The following is a description of each.
(This perspective is foundational to some of the deeper reaches of learning how to Effectively read and follow an Astrology calendar which is the webinar I teach. The next 4 part series begins on March 9, 2010. Learn more about it in Events here on my site.) Solar Type people are those whose thinking is externalized on ‘objective facts’. These types tend to be pragmatic and outcome oriented. These may generally be referred to as male dominant in their perception, regardless of their actual gender. These Solar Types will not really feel or notice the effects of Moon or lunar rhythms. The advantage is that they are not so moody and may be deemed to be cool even under adverse conditions that cause others to react emotionally. The disadvantage is they may not be in touch with their feelings and emotions or those of others. This can produce a lack of empathy and compassion and even produce an excessively cerebral character. Due to an exteriorized focus, such people will be more materialistic and empirical. Such people will often deem themselves to be ‘realists’ while all others are considered fools and dreamers deluded by emotion and imagination. Highly strategic and functioning from a subconscious instinct of survival or fear based defence from an alien environment, their focus will be strongly emphasised on the outcome. The process will be seen to be something of a necessary evil. Notions of ‘going with the flow’ will be deemed weakness and indulgence. Such people will appear cold hearted, aggressive and not very happy overall by more balanced types. In extreme cases this type produces the proverbial tyrant who rules with iron fisted callous. For balance Solar types need to learn to meditate, listen and feel more. In the most positive sense, Solar Type people may be relied upon to ‘get the job done’ quickly and efficiently. Negatively, the notion of enjoying the fruits of one’s labours and or enjoying the creative process, the journey, is much less likely. As attractive as they may seem, especially where heated ambitions or dire necessities call for very assertive, focused, decisive action, the predominance of these types lead us away from the simple joys and pleasures of life. Everything is about ‘do’ and there is little value placed on ‘be’. It may be said that this is how modern civilization largely functions and thus with this perspective, we may begin to see the ‘why’ of many of the problems and imbalances we commonly see and experience in the world. Further, even though they may not feel the Moon rhythms or be affected by them, they will still experience the negative effects of making important purchases or signing agreements at times when the Moon is in adverse condition for doing so. I am specifically referring to V/C Moon periods and other negative alignments which either eventually fall through or lead to complications and frustrations that might have otherwise been avoided. Consider the many purchases, businesses, contracts of all kinds etc. that fall through everyday. In summary, Solar types are least negatively affected by the Moon emotionally, yet potentially the most negatively affected by the Moon in terms of major life decisions because they operate largely on linear logic, reason and self will and may be said to not use and/or trust their intuition and instincts. Lunar Type people are at best very empathic, intuitive, psychic feelers. At worst, they are overly sensitive, over empathetic, moody and thrown around, so to speak, by emotions. In extreme cases we can say that these people suffer from “lunacy”. No, they are not lunatics. Such people are highly emotionally sensitized and may suffer from acute imbalance of some kind and can be dangerously out of control. Lunar people are very sensitive to mood changes both within and without in their environment. In both cases, these mood changes can be timed with the help of a Pocket Astrologer. Strong lunar energy shifts outlined by aspects from the Moon to other planets indicate when these shifts are likely to occur. The advantage of this type is that they can use the pocket Astrologer to know what the mood of the day will be and how and when it stands to change. Introverted people or people who spend a lot of time on their own or away from daily rhythms and routines in extroverted activity are naturally sensitive to the Moon and/or can become so, like prison inmates or patients who stay a long while in institutions to receive medical care will probably come under the category of a Lunar type. For balance Lunar types need to be more involved in the world. In extreme cases, this type produces an inability to decide, focus and follow through on tasks and therefore can accurately be deemed unreliable and inconsistent. In the most positive sense, Lunar Type people are the romantics, artists, performers, poets, dreamers, sensitives and Empaths. We look to them to tune-in to the many subtleties and nuances of feeling and emotion, color and form, rhythm and flow. Negatively, such types are over dramatic and emotionally self-indulgent. Actions are not taken with consequence in mind. The moment is all and the balance between the past and future is unappreciated. In some cases a person will assume that the common tendency of solar thinking is what reality is or what they ‘should be’. Yet it may also be true that they have been conditioned by their external environment, society, piers etcetera are unconscious of and out of tune with their self and natural rhythms. If a person is naturally a lunar type but is not in-tune with the natural rhythmic flow of moods they can be either extra moody, depressed, lost, confused, addicted somehow and simply not functioning at a satisfying equilibrium. Hypothetically at least, Lunar Types subject to the excessive leaning of the current social over emphasis of Solar thinking are more susceptible to subsequent feelings of alienation, low self-esteem, even delinquent behaviour and any form of imbalance or personality disorder may be active as a consequence. Soli-Lunar Type people may be said to be the most balanced and may therefore be regarded as the ideal. Such people will be both in-tune with natural mood rhythms enough for health and satisfaction. However, they can also exercise their will and focus and choose to over ride their emotions as necessary. As long as this wilful over ride is not over emphasized, they can re-gain a balance by tuning in to their moods, feelings and emotions and those of others. The Soli-Lunar type of person or state or balance is ideal in that these people can access both their intuitive and instinctual feelings and they can also access a satisfactory degree of logic and reason, at a rhythmic and balanced interval in their day to day experiences. In many respects, it may be deemed the ideal to achieve. By observing and consciously tuning-in to the lunar cycles one’s reflective self awareness increases and with awareness of the goal of balance, a healthy and balanced state between intuitive feelings and logical reasoning can quickly be achieved. The fact that nature produces all extremes, Solar, Lunar and Soli-Lunar types of people is perhaps best acknowledged as ‘natural’. With the above mode of reasoning, however, we may at least be able to recognize people for who they are naturally. Further, where such extremes are prevalent, people can make conscious efforts to make choices and take action to achieve greater balance. Further, we can also learn to recognize one another more fully for the type of person we basically are and/or the state in which a person is functioning at any given moment. With this awareness we may then better understand ourselves, others and how to approach any given situation with increased awareness on the basis of a simple model and natural mode of perception. |
