Saros Series 12 North Base chart for the January 14, 2010 Solar Eclipse
(See Chart) Eclipses are part of a larger ‘family of eclipses called A Saros Cycle. A Saros Cycle has a ‘life span’ of about 1300 years and there are 38 families in all, 19 from the North and 19 from the South. During this time there will be 71-73 Solar Eclipses. A Saros Cycle either originates at the North or the South Pole. The first of the series always contains the core theme. So to understand a current eclipse, it is important to know when the first one occurred and whether it began, at the North or the South. The first of a series is always a partial eclipse. At about the midpoint, which is about 35-36 Solar Eclipses and 65o years later, the Solar Eclipse will be a Total Solar Eclipse. You can liken it to a Full Moon or to be the most potent one overall. Lunar eclipses always occur near a Solar Eclipse and are part of the same family, There is usually 1 and sometimes 2 Lunar Eclipses for each Solar Eclipse and they occur either 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after. This Solar Eclipse is a ‘child’ so to speak of Saros Series 12 North. The first of the series began on May 19, 1613 at 17:58:33 GMT North Pole. The deeper meanings of any eclipse are complex. This series presents something of a change of the guard. People will be leaving their posts and new people will be coming in to replace them. In this respect, it can be seen as a time of opportunity for many, endings for some. In other words, it means the end of certain levels of power and responsibility for some and the beginning for others. While this is a standard part of life, this eclipse implies an larger measure of change and this should all occur over the course of the next 6-12 months so in 2010. There is also a hint that the reasons for the endings suggest events that are difficult and challenging. It is interesting to note that the Sun and Moon are at 28 Taurus at the inception of this series and Saturn is at 28 Pisces. And Chiron, which was not yet discovered, was at 28 degrees Capricorn. Chiron in Capricorn indicates challenges deciphering where one fits in the world and generally it is not an easy process. I would interpret this as a challenge for humanity collectively to decipher where we are to go from here. As mentioned in the introduction, there are some indications that we have come to a stalemate, an impasse. It cannot last forever, but it may cause delays and gives reason to reflect to brain storm for solutions. At worst, the delay endures and the pressure and the stress mount. At best, we may actually aim to solve any problems more conscientiously and proactively than selfishly and reactively. Venus conjunct the North Node in Taurus is auspicious and speaks of new values and priorities. Venus is also conjunct Pluto which indicates challenges to experience healthy self-esteem and it can also prove to be very fertile and arouse desires for physical pleasure. Mercury conjunct Uranus in Gemini is also very positive in terms of sheer intellectual brilliance and inventiveness. Expect many new ideas to explode onto the world stage regarding communications. Given the already swamped market with communication devices and social media and so on, I would say that more and more people will be using them. Jupiter and Neptune in conjunct in Virgo are not so optimistic. Both planets are challenged in Virgo. That they are aligned however implies opportunity and perhaps need for spiritual healing. Mercury and Uranus may answer by bringing new awareness and invention and breakthrough in science and perhaps the medical field to the fore. Mars in Cancer at the 29th degree is perhaps the greatest sore spot in this chart. Mars is challenged in cancer and 29 is a critical degree. In the most positive sense, it implies renovation. At worst, family dysfunction that leads to violence. It is very important that we flow with the changing times now. Any people or cultures or nations that resist this flow of change could undergo great pressures which could explore reactively. So, this Saros Series, 12 North, suggests changes and a healing process. 2010 therefore stands to be pivotal in terms of rapid change and new leadership. |
