Your Relationship Destiny is Written in your Stars

Our Astrological Birth Chart illustrates the kind of mate we seek. The signature of our ideal match can be deciphered by looking to a series of points and planetary placements on the chart Mandala. How many important relationships we are likely to encounter in our life, is there as well.  Some people are destined to marry their first love while others might be destined to never marry or settle down into one relationship at all. Then there are those in between who might have several important relationships before achieving a true and lasting love. Some are destined to have many encounters while some will not have any at all. Further our charts can tell us what challenges we stand to encounter with our mate.  Our karmic past and our destined life path are revealed in our Astrology and relationship is central to our respective journeys. These and other such factors in all the ranges of possibility we are likely to encounter in that all important aspect of life, love relationships, is revealed in the placements of the planets.

Creating a conscious relationship is an important feature of our changing times. This can certainly imply all relationship encounters, but I am here referring specifically to romantic love relationships. I have heard some say that we can make any relationship work as long as we follow certain principles. This is a very idealistic, if not outright naïve belief. Ignoring the natural chemistry and importance of finding a relationship that aligns with who we are and what we need to learn to grow and evolve at any given time period in our life implies an attitude of fear and survival. Further, not recognizing that certain people fit well certain people and not with others suggests a one size fits all approach and clearly there are many sizes.

The basic formula for deciphering the kind of mate we are seeking is reflected generally by the Sign that is placed on the 7th House Cusp, the house cusp of Libra and by the actual House position of Libra. Beyond this we can follow the following guidelines:

  • Men or the masculine seeks a mate that symbolically reflects Venus and Moon.

  • Women or the feminine seeks a mate that symbolically reflects Mars and Saturn.

  • The aspects that exist between Venus and the Moon and or Mars and Saturn reveal the degree of challenge and/or flow, or the abundance or lack of opportunities we are likely to experience.

  • Crossovers between these four, as in Venus in aspect to Saturn, or Moon in aspect to Mars, or Venus in aspect to Mars, Moon is aspect to Saturn offer yet other factors to the plot.

In Astrology, some aspects are considered harmonious and flowing while others are challenging. Appreciating the basic rules and finer subtleties of how Astrology works is required to decipher these factors that will invariable have a play in our life at one time or another. Due to free will, conclusive statements should not be made. With awareness and/or will choose to consciously work on creating greater harmony and flow wherever it may be needed. Alternatively, we can take the flow for granted unless we realize how good our relationship actually is for us and thereby bring gratitude and respectful presence of mind into play.

We can also decipher harmonious periods and challenging ones with our mate and in our relationships in general by way of transits and progressions. The law of change is ever active and so as we do, our relationships undergo many cycles with highs and lows, challenges and flows. These neither should be approached in a pat manner, yet they can reveal what is going on, how long and deep the cycle will go and when it will end. Such awareness can be very useful to assist us to create more conscious and meaningful relationships.

Learning more about the ‘relationship signature’ in our charts can help us in many ways. Knowing better who we are as individuals is an important feature of this awareness. Saying, ‘I am just like everyone else, another guy or gal’, is like saying I am just a number and it indicates a distinct lack of awareness of individuality and soul. Simply settling for the relationship we have when we know it is not the fulfillment we desire and need and/or struggling endlessly to ‘make it work’ runs the risk of mutual frustrations, shutting one another down, instigating depression, addiction, denial and, in general, a lose/lose deal. Survival, lack and limiting belief is often at the root of enduring what simply is not a satisfying relationship. The result is quantity of time over quality of experience. Of course, this is a personal choice. In addition, these statements should not be interpreted as taking a superficial approach to our relationships. All of us experience highs and lows, ups and down, challenges and fulfillments, even in the best of relationships, so making the decision to enter into committed love relationships or to leave a significant partnership without due forethought and consideration is seldom a good idea. Usually, we are eager to jump in, but often on the basis of superficial considerations. This is the enticement of the romantic stage of relationships when partners are usually on their best behavior and are still blinded by the excitement of new love and the pleasures it implies. As we choose to awaken to a deeper appreciation of who we are and what we need to grow in relationship is an important step towards experiencing fulfillment and authenticity.
