The Chemistry of Relationships

The chemistry of relationships is something that the science of Astrology has brought to a fine art. The ‘chemistry’ that Astrology measures are not strictly the bio chemical sort. Rather, by way of the archetypal symbols that the signs and planets illustrate, we can take any two charts to decipher the quality of chemistry that exists between them. The insights generated by such contrast, comparison and synthesis techniques, is remarkably accurate and deep. Consequently, these techniques can prove to be very useful and helpful indeed. Whether the relationship is new and budding or old and entrenched and anywhere in between, Astrology can help. Specifically, these techniques are called Synastry and Composite.

Synastry

Synastry is the art of cross referencing all the planetary positions, cardinal points, house cusps and their exact degrees between any two charts. While this is generally done for any two people sharing a close relationship, a Synastry Chart can also be cast for a person and a location, an enterprise, a pet and so on. Although I have not seen it done, it can theoretically be cast for any two companies or locations. Companies do business with one another and places sometimes share special relationships of a variety of sorts. Synastry illustrates how, point by point, any two entities considered ‘persons’ in any sense of the term will relate. Some may argue that doing this for animals, but tell that to an animal lover and especially one that appreciates the deeper intelligence of animals. In any case, the comparisons that can be created between any two charts will produce a surprisingly large amount of information. After all, with eight planets, Sun and Moon, the four Cardinal Points – Ascendant/Descendant, M.C./I.C., the 12 Houses, and then Chiron, the four Asteroid Goddesses, which are significant especially for more intimate relationships, and other points as well that one might potentially see value in comparing between any tow persons, you can see the rather vast possibilities.

Creating a complete and full cross reference is something best left to computers initially, due to the laborious task implied. For this reason, Relationship Reports are popular and usually quite affordable, like anywhere from $20.00 – $50.00 on average. Relationship Reports taken for their worth and definitely good value for understanding our relationships better and could prove to save people literally thousands that they might otherwise spend on expensive counseling that may not nearly be as necessary or accurate as they may believe, especially when compared to what Astrology offer so quickly and easily.

If a deeper reflection to compare any two charts is wanted, this is where a hiring a professional Astrologer can also prove to be a very good investment. A skilled and intuitive Astrologer can very quickly glean the essence of likelihood for relationship success by looking at any two charts. I have done this for many years and have helped people find true love, without compromising, to work through challenging periods, to help deepen mutual understanding, respect and love and/or to recognize that sometimes wisdom and true love is about letting go verses trying to make something work belligerently.

There are many points to consider regarding Chart Synastry and it depends on the relationship considered to decipher the ease and flow or the challenges implied. There are usually some of both and so most relationships are definitely something of a ‘mixed bag’.  Again, the relationship may be between two people or two companies or countries and so on. The biggest challenge is deciphering what the actual birth charts are actually. This is generally easier between two people but not necessarily so with two companies and countries unless there is a clear date at least and ideally time of inception which is based on the official signing that launches the ‘person’ in question into ‘legal’ existence. (Persons in this respect are entities that exist as holding independent and legal status.) Every relationship may be said to have a purpose, regardless of how harmonious or not the charts seem to compare and so no relationship should be considered to be good or bad in a black and white sense. Yet, challenge and flow subject to the charts themselves and to the cycles active can be recognized quite quickly and with depth and scope. So, the question may be: how much time and energy do you want and can you afford to spend to decipher the overall worthiness of that purpose? Learning life lessons is good, yet spending a lot of time, effort and money to learn that the purpose was to learn that the relationship is exceedingly challenging and consequently costly, it might be decided that taking the blind risk to ‘see what happens’ may not be such a good idea. There are other factors beyond the archetypes like age, class, social status, timing and so on, yet if you are in relationship or seeking one, good Astrology can help you to create relationship fulfillment and success.

                Composite

Composite charts take the comparing of any two charts one step further by creating a synthesis between the two. Where Synastry can be seen to metaphorically represent a chemical compound, Composite Charts symbolically can be compared to a chemical solution. The blending of any two charts this way creates a third chart or person. The Composite Chart traditionally blends two charts by way of the mid points between the same points. For example, the mid point between Mars in chart A and Mars in chart B would give the result of Mars in the Composite chart – Chart C, and so on with all the other planets, Cardinal Points and House Cusps. In addition, ‘creating’ a third person that exists between any two persons, can then be compared back to each initial person to see how they each relate to this ‘third person’. Perhaps most importantly, Composite Charts reveal the deeper purpose of the relationship.

Another more recent addition to the long list of Astrological techniques is method of creating Composite Charts where the time and location are more fully considered as realities, whereas in the traditional Composite Chart the mid point between the planets as they are does not take these factors into consideration. This method is simply called the Davison Relationship Chart. I have worked with this technique or a few years now and can testify to its accuracy. Among the more interesting features of this chart is the fact that it offers both a specific date between the two charts and the location between the two can be determined as well, even though this is often in the middle of the ocean. So, the Davison Chart offers an exciting and accurate new means of assessing the purpose of any relationship. Working with the date it provides offers new avenues of study for Astrologers to help their clients see how the relationship is progressing, like by knowing the birth date created and thereby allowing further Astrological insight beyond what the traditional Composite Chart provides and, as well, a birthday numerological assessment which brings useful and accurate insights as well.

Whether looking to the Composite or the Davison Relationship Chart, in either case the charts can also reveal the changing relationship dynamic by way of updating the charts with the application of Progressions. This important feature helps to go beyond the essence of the purpose of the relationship to where the evolutionary dynamic has shifted for any given date. This allows the Astrologer to assist clients to recognize current cycles and events so that they may be aware of them and to better know them for what they are and what they mean. There are other techniques that can be employed as well to measure relationships, but these are the most popular and they offer as much useful insight as is generally desired.

                Overview

Chemistry is a useful term regarding the quality of interaction any two people share. Often reference is made to intimate relationships. In as much as we interpret intimate to generally mean people who share a close space for any prolonged period of time, we may say that intimacy need not imply anything more, like a sexual relationship. Deep intimacy between people in love is generally accepted to be sexual, though is may not be necessarily. Sometimes there is much love yet little chemistry while at other there may be a lot of chemistry yet the realities of love may not be present, established or even likely. Some arrqangements are very business oriented. Then there is timing, which is of the essence and which is a significant feature of Astrology. Other kinds of intimacy may be between siblings, parent and child, close friends, neighbors, associates, co-workers, club members and so on. Every relationship between any two people, or ‘persons’, is the basis of what we can understand to have its own chemistry. Applying the term chemistry in the archetypal sense, verses the literal, although there literally is chemistry both at the biological level but also at the energetic and archetypal, it is easy to see that we all share and exchange ‘energy’ of all sorts with every other person. Using Astrology to better understand the chemistry of our relationships is a quick deep, insightful, effective and affordable means of creating a more conscious relationship for mutual fulfillment and success.
