Tip of the Season:

The final season of the year has begun. Autumn Equinox this year is on September 22nd at 2:19 pm PDT. Taking this chart as a general forecast for the next three months we see a Waxing Moon in the Crescent Phase, about a day after it was an exact 45 degree crescent image. Saturn, Venus and Mercury Retrograde in Virgo lend a sober tone to the chart. Virgo was to improve, repair, fix, clean, clear, refine and to generally bring matters to a polished completion. Mars in Cancer adds to this intention yet digs even deeper. Mars here can be describer as the renovator. This can literally describe home and structural improvements, yet it can also apply to other aspects of change that includes clearing the old to make way for the new. Mars can be harsh here and with Venus in Virgo moods may be drier than usual this season. Cancer is also the comedian, however, and Virgo expresses a dry wit and the two could produce a lot of laughter. Why not set that intention? After all, we made need the healing benefits of more laughter this season. So, the renovations may also occur mentally, emotionally and spiritually (subconsciously).

Activating inner change to evoke outer is the way of alchemy. Life does it naturally and the process is continuous in steady and subtle yet sure ways. On the other hand, when we engage consciously to clear and so uplift our vibration and awareness, changing the lead to gold, we may lay claim to be taking an alchemical approach and thereby qualify as an alchemist, even if to a small degree. Seeing alchemy as something certain people do, those mystics and heavy browed wizards, is unnecessary. Such images may be accurate to some extent, yet they can also be seen to simply represent an archetypal state of deep understanding of life processes, wisdom and concentration.

The lunar North Node now in Capricorn as of late August lends to this more sober and serious tone. Saturn, the ruling planet for Capricorn is in Virgo, another Earth sign is yet another. That this is the year of the Earth ox in Chinese Astrology corresponds directly as well. Interestingly, the hermit in the Tarot can be seen to embody the combined energies of Virgo and Capricorn. The Hermit seeks to go within, to meditate, contemplate, concentrate and focus to gain a clear sense of his/her own light. Pluto is also now in Capricorn and is virtually hovering at zero degrees at the outset of the season due to having turned retrograde back on April 4 and then finally stationed to complete stop on September 11. (Planets do not actually stop. From the perspective of the earth they “appear” to stop or station is the more technical term and Astrologers know there is more to this apparent event than ‘meets the eye’, in this case, the telescope’s eye.. Pluto has been hovering at zero Capricorn since the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse back on August 5th and will only enter the first degree on October 18th, right at the time of the next New Moon in Libra. So, Pluto is hovering at zero Capricorn which, by the way is the exact degree of the Sun at Winter Solstice, the ‘natural’ beginning of the New Year. You know, December 21. Overview of Planetary Activity For Autumn 2009

Below you can read the outline of planetary activity this season from a generic point of view. How planetary positions and activities will influence any person specifically depends on how the planets in aspect currently in the sky make connections to the planetary positions in one’s Birth Chart. (In Astrology, this is referred to as the “Radix” chart and is cast for the date, place and time of birth.) Comparing current planet positions with natal planet positions is the basis of prediction in Astrology. To gain more specific insights based on exact transiting to natal planet positions please call for an appointment and I will be happy to clarify what themes, trends and cycles are unfolding in your life and will be into the future.

Mercury begins the season in Virgo and retrograde. Fortunately, Virgo is one of the best places for Mercury, retrograde or direct. Mercury here has a greater capacity than usual to pay close attention to the details. At worst, harsh criticism will dampen moods and spirits so do what you can to use this energy for constructive purposes. Mercury will turn Direct on September 29th. The ‘winged messenger’ will then resume speed and enter Libra on October 9th and then Scorpio on the 28th. In Libra Mercury seeks fair dealings while in Scorpio less talk and more research are favoured. By December 5th, mercury will enter Capricorn bringing more practical and pragmatic interests to the forefront.

Venus On September 20th, Venus entered sober Virgo where she is meant to give more than receive. This is not ‘her’ happiest position yet with awareness we can make the most of any influence. Venus will enter Libra, her ruling sign in mid October, the 14th to be exact. Her she yearns for the beautiful and romantic. How perfect with the fall colours in full splendour then. By November 7 Venus will enter sexual, secretive Scorpio. This could prove to feel good yet it may also be wise to pay extra attention to your finances and monetary dealings. On December 1st, Venus will enter Sagittarius where she rejoices in artistic and cultural activities and events.

Mars begins the season Cancer where it acts to renovate in any way necessary. This is an assertive even aggressive position for Mars. But that is what is required for renovating so make the most of it. By October 16th, the day before the New Moon, Mars will enter Leo. Mars is a fire planet and Leo is a fire sign so you know what we can expect – big fire! Mars in Leo is dramatic, playful and exciting. Sexy and passionate are other accurate descriptions. Aim to tune in and use this high energy combination in whatever way makes sense in your life. The themes outlined in each sign include how this may make sense for you.

Anyone with Natal Planets at the early first few degrees of the Cardinal Signs: Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn and to a lesser degree any of the other signs, will experience some noticeable death and rebirth themes. These can be at least as liberating as difficult, but endings are often challenging.

Pluto will turn Direct again on September 11th… It makes me wonder if this date of Pluto at its most still point, when it stations or appears to stop before resuming noticeable motion for another month, will stir the pot about the September 11, 2001 crisis/conspiracy. Despite the success of the media to turn this into an act or Terrorism, there remain many who believe it was an inside job and most of these voices are American themselves. There are some good documentaries on this subject on YouTube entitled: Loose Change (I & II) and the other, which offers a very deep historical perspective is called Empire of the City. Whatever really happened on that fateful day, that Pluto turns Direct at 0 degrees Capricorn is sure to raise more than a few brows in the Astrological community and is bound to produce fresh articles on the subject as well. With that being the 8th year anniversary of the 9/11 event, the numerological number that implies culmination, harvest, toil and testing we are bound to experience a return to that event and the many subsequent issues and events and current realities that were spawned by it.

Pluto will be in for the next 15 years. Pluto has made its first surge forward and has advanced over 3 degrees since November, which is quite fast for Pluto. Anyone with planets in the early degree of Capricorn, Aries, Libra and Cancer especially, but in any sign generally, will have already felt the initial waves of change and transformation that being ‘touched’ by Pluto implies.

On April 3rd, Pluto began its retrograde retreat and will actually move all the way back to 0 degrees Capricorn by late summer, September 11th to be exact…. By Winter solstice, Pluto will have regained its ground and advance to 5 degrees by April of next year. Pluto transforms whatever it touches, or by any other name or rank, Pluto is a powerful player and when it visits sensitive points in your chart it changes your life in ways corresponding to those points forever.

Neptune is in Aquarius as it has been since 1999. Now it is in the final degrees of Aquarius (there are 30 degrees in any sign) and is still forming a close conjunction with Chiron and Jupiter. The closest conjunction of these three outer planets occurred in late May and this continued into June 2009. This aspect is very revealing of where wounds are present on both personal and collective levels and will activate and awaken healing attitudes or will possibly be met with resistance and denial by many since Uranus, the ruling planet for Aquarius, is in Pisces which, at it lower ebb, represents denial.

The healing implied includes addressing issues and blocks of any kind by dealing with the subconscious has grown in popularity steadily over the past century and several decades especially, and now it is rapidly becoming common knowledge. This is what this powerful and rare conjunction is influencing. People with planets from 23-24 degrees of the fixed signs –Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius - especially will be strongly influenced by this alignment. Neptune slowly dissolves or melts whatever it touches and it can be fascinating to watch and experience. Though the process cannot be stopped, one can choose to learn to work with it.

With Uranus in Pisces still hovering at 24 to 22 degrees of Pisces this fall not much need be said except that people with planets and sensitive points at those degrees or those of the mutable Signs Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius will experience measurable awakenings, sudden realizations and rapid change. Where the aspect is hard, as with planets in Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius it will produce continued awakening. For some this awakening is a welcome process as it is the needed shift of consciousness leading to liberations necessary for the next set of experiences in their life journey. There are many other attitudes, beliefs and practices in the market and lifestyle patterns that also reflect the ‘old’ days of only 10 years or so ago. To those unwilling or unable to adjust and adapt to the rapidly changing times, these changes may not be so welcome at all. It is important that people at least keep an open mind and moreover, that they mobilize in consciousness and action to understand and cooperate with the awakening and changes that Uranus will bring.

Saturn in the mid degrees of Virgo is in a strong and favourable position, again especially for anyone willing and wise enough and able to be disciplined and work with the changes that are underway. Education, knowledge, skills and new habits and approaches and strategies in general are implied by the placement of Saturn in Virgo. The old world and ways is dissolving quickly now and wisdom says adapt and learn, learn and adapt. So, if this is speaking to you, intend to watch less television if you do normally and reach out to people and resources and the internet to tune-in so that you can meet the changes with awareness, intelligence and knowledge and information that you can put to practical use. This placement marries well with the themes of the Chinese Year of the Earth ox which we are currently in and will continue to be until February 2010.

Saturn is traveling fast now and will move from 15 to 25 degrees of Virgo by the time autumn arrives. Expect the pace of change in society in general, especially regarding the environment, the economy and new technologies this summer.

On the high side, people continue to awaken to the importance of working for change, in terms of healing or progress and success in the marketplace and so on, from the inside-out. This is where modern psychology and spirituality are forming a deep bond. Deeper yet, what the interactions of Jupiter, Chiron, Uranus and Neptune imply is a powerful spiritual healing and awakening. They are serving to activate a spiritual revolution which will be very evident in 2011. For now, much healing must occur so that people can awaken and this is not such a straightforward process. Despite many sincere efforts, the pace remains slow but it will undergo a significant acceleration beginning with Uranus in Aries in April 2010.

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 20)

Autumn season will reveal a measurable increase in your personal power. If you are not currently in your power mode, circumstances will prove to push you to make more sober choices and commitments. As the season progresses you will be taking people and situations more seriously and vice versa. Many dreams are brewing and positioning your self to be able to act upon them more effectively will be an emerging priority.

Early in the season you will want to get things done probably especially close to home. By mid October you will be much more in the mood for play, love, romance, adventure. You might ask why it isn’t the other way around given the weather etcetera but that is the way it is. So, the play and passion factors will increase, yet it may also produce more drama especially in November. Above all to whom and to what do you feel committed, will be up for you to answer.

Taurus (Apr 20 – May 21)

Creating more balance in your overall lifestyle will become more important this fall. This includes making healthier choices. Starting new health regimes, cleanses and better diet are likely. You may choose to get healthier by way of sports and more competitive arenas. Learning new skills from others who deem masters of their craft is a distinct possibility.

Your energies are probably running quite high as the season begins. You will feel inspired to begin projects that need to be completed. Tending to things that you have put off but can no longer afford will direct your focus. By mid season you may find yourself fully engaged in making your home and life in general more beautiful. Relationships will take on new depth and meaning later this fall and endings to long standing unions are possible.

Gemini (May 21 – Jun 21)

You are entering a time where desires for more freedom will emerge. You may set your sights on a long term plan in this regard. Relationships and your commitment to them will play a pivotal role. This may well include your children and you may feel the need to make certain sacrifices in this regard. Reviewing the past few years, you may have faced fears yet have discovered treasures in your own backyard by doing so.

A drive for more security may be evident early on in the season. Clearing the clutter and fixing things and creating a tidy and efficient space will prove inspiring. As you do so you should experience an increase in your overall energies in October. Some of the inspiration may come from new love interests and/or travel. Focus to boost your immune system all the while because through December you will be very happy you did.

Cancer (Jun 22 – Jul 22)

Autumn may be a time when you are particularly happy to be close to home. More practically, preparing for winter somehow is part of the plot. Concerns about the changing power and economic structure in the world may prove disturbing to you more than it seems to affect others. To this end, you may feel extra determined to secure your assets. Focusing on details, getting answers, negotiating terms and new deals will keep you busy.

Tending to many errands facts and details close to home is likely early in the season. This may well include little excursions here and there. New investments and or dealings with legal matters will take on more momentum in mid season. Be the end of the season you will be busy negotiating more new or the ones established the month prior. Cultural and spiritual interests may also prove extra attractive at this time.

Leo (Jul 23 – Aug 23)

The time has come to make your dreams your reality. This will require a strong focus and commitment to a dynamic learning curve. If you think you have been learning a lot lately, fasten your seatbelts. This probably includes a lot of movement as in short distance travel as well and maybe some longer journeys too. This can prove to be a very exciting time in your life if you are willing to do the work focus and follow through.

Increasing your social presence and network will be a main focus at the start of autumn. This will include getting really grounded and practical in your approach. Do the inner work to clear blocks early on and you will present a more confident and dynamic presence and be willing to take the stage especially earlier on leaving plenty of room for downtime in November then aim to get back out there later in the season.

Virgo (Aug 24 – Sep 22)

Steadily building upon a new foundation is in the stars for you. This will include a balance of your ego-personality and your spiritual path and aspirations. Part of the trick includes having an ego verses being one. As soon as you acknowledge that you have an ego, this process will begin. Be willing to take calculated risks with a vision for the future. Establish your foundation now and you can expand upon it even more in 2010.

Be willing to do at least as much work behind the scenes to build upon your foundation early in the season. Yet, be willing to try new angles as well. Set the intention to be extra focused and avoid letting your self be distracted especially in the second half of the first month of the season. By late October you will be ‘out there’ again yet you will be happiest close to home through November. December will activate your focus for making executive decisions.

Libra (Sep 23 – Oct 22)

Old emotional states and orientations to security are dissolving steadily now like snow in April. This could prove liberating or produce anxiety or both. Yet, there is reason to believe that you are on the march. This may include gathering and sharing knowledge and feelings. Big rumblings on the home front are either the source or the consequence of these evolutionary changes. Be willing to change your lifestyle if it no longer suits your real needs.

Getting in touch with your heart felt feelings, yet with practicality in mind will characterize some of your attitude at the beginning of the season. Yet, you also want to take pioneering strides. Financial considerations will increase in mid season. If you can, you will be extra happy to head south or at least on an adventure later in the season; if not in body, perhaps by way of a good book or video series. Take command of your life yet avoid a ‘take-no-prisoners’ attitude and negotiate fair deals instead.

Scorpio (Oct 23 – Nov 21)

These stand to be interesting times for you. Pushing for revolutionary changes both within and without is likely. Much of the work will happen behind the scenes. You are coming to the clear realization of what does and does not work in your life. Setting the intention to let go of fear, ego pride, illusions, delusions, denials and evasions signifies a process of re-birthing. This can be a painful process yet also a beautiful and fulfilling one. Avoid resistance and intend to listen well to your intuition.

Aside for any necessary social activity, intend to go within and or work behind the scenes early in the season at least. Aim to nurture a realistic yet inspiring vision of creative possibility. Rather than just dream, outline your visions, plans, goals and ideas and/or sketch them. By mid season, look to new markets and ways of making money. You may feel it is necessary to move before the season is out or soon thereafter, keep an open mind either way and go where the love is…

Sagittarius (Nov 22 – Dec 21)

Coming down from the lofty peak is a way of describing what the charts say for you at this time. Since high peaks are often cold, stark and windy if majestic you may be happy about this. Be willing to go out more and share your thoughts and ideas more fully. Do focus as you go as the descent can be at least as hard as the ascent. Concentrate your focus and power.

Gathering tools and any form of useful information is likely to keep you busy early in the season. Sorting the fantasies from the dreams is part of the plot. Your individuality will be strong early on yet you will be happy to be less available in mid season. Be willing to listen as much as speak this fall. Expect to take some pioneering initiatives in December.

Capricorn (Dec 22 – Jan 19)

Your power potential and determination to assert your self is growing by the day. It is likely that you are already on a roll. You are less in the mood to ask and more in the mood to act now talk later these days. Expanding your scope of influence implies meetings with people whom you consider powerful. New levels of responsibility are coming with this power but you will be less able to ‘please all the people’.

You will be eager expand your popularity early in the season. This includes social and cultural events. Other players are pushing and you may feel like a domino in line. As the season progresses you will be less inclined to be social so get it all now if you feel the urge. Aim to identify your priorities and be willing to commit in ways you have not before. The needs of your family and community will gain more importance and this will lead to new investment interests.

Aquarius (Jan 20 – Feb 19)

It is quite possibly that you will emerge like a butterfly from a cocoon this season. At best, you will feel liberated. At worst you will feel raw and not as confident. This will change progressively and you will want to soar ever higher. New perceptions and self concepts are brewing and these will lead you to be more assertive. Gaining new knowledge that is fun and exciting will become increasingly obvious.

By early season you will be happy to be out and about exploring and adventurous. There stands to be many places and faces. Yet expect to work for it and do what you can to moderate your energies because you may be burning the candle at both ends. Oh well, it goes that way sometime so flow with it. Save the sleeping for late in the year and early into 2010.

Pisces (Feb 20 – Mar 20)

Are you aware that you are heading into a metamorphosis period in your life? Well, you are! Don’t worry; it is a natural aspect of your destiny. However, you do have choices how you wish to go into it and how you would like to cooperate with the process. You will learn to assert and express yourself in new ways and these may actually increase your overall sense and scope of power. Learning to share the power and responsibility and work is part of the plot. Bigger things are calling, are you listening and will you answer?

Negotiating deals and creating opportunities are likely activities early in the season and even well into it. Communications and creative expressions will keep you busy. Expect to work diligently this season and on both inner and outer levels. Aim to go on a dynamic roll yet reserve your energies as you can because the momentum stands to increase all season with December being the busiest!
