The Cycle of the Moon – The Lunation Cycle

            The cycle of the Moon is so much more powerful and important than our common sense realizes. Reduced to some distant event, we go on with our consumptions and distractions. Yet, beneath the event is a cosmic seed much more powerful than profane thinking acknowledges. This oversight of consciousness can be linked to our technological advancements. Artificial light and subsequent light pollution to the dark night skies is part of the plot. A richly stimulated culture of city life and the draw of illusions of film and television and the like have grabbed hold of our popular imaginations. These technological cultural expressions and stimulations are certainly impressive feats of human creativity and ingenuity. However, they have also served to distance us from natural cycles, wonders, processes and powers.

            Astrologers honour the effects and influences of Luna, our Moon.  Beyond divided mind perceptions, the cosmic seeds reveal their workings with majestic force. The phenomenal effects are so intrinsic, that slicing time and seeking evidence is strangely difficult. Of course, the ocean’s tides revealing swollen lovely waves at Full Moon and women’s menstruation cycles corresponding to the 28 days of the Moon’s cycles are other intricate and intrinsic rhythms of nature can be listed as well.

            So strong is the proud ego mind that even in the face of reams of evidence that we are deeply connected to the cycles of the Moon (and the planets and the entire solar system, galaxy and universe), some still demand proof. When invited to consider the measurable effects from an Astrology chart for example, which plots the positions of the planets for any moment in time and thereby studies the inter relationships, further claims of proof and cries of trickery and lies are the projection of ego mind’s struck by fear that it may not actually be in as much control as it fearfully reacts to believe. Claiming objectivity yet seeped in fear based defence born of ego beliefs and hypocritical, deflections from looking closer at the mechanics, methods and evidences that their Natal chart is the quick reflex that endeavours to annihilate the light. Of course it fails to do so but self-satisfied by feeble rationales supported by peer pressures, the discussion is dismissed. Persistence to open dialogue is met with anger or denials and mind states that reveal trance states. “But, others feel the same so I must be right!” Who do they think they are those Astrologers. Let’s do away with that aspect of life and science. Yes, that one that celebrates our unity with the cosmos and observes such silly events like Solar eclipses as having any meaning beyond that of an entertaining phenomenal event. Such are the antics of the fearful ego mind.

            Yet, as the heart open and intuitions flow and gratitude is activated and love dissolves fear and where reverence rises and willingness replaces defensive will, the realization that we truly are one with the cosmos beyond the separating, dividing and reducing tendencies of the ego mind emerges as evident. So then, what do those charts indicate about me and my relationship with the cosmos, with my body, mind, heart and soul. Is it true? Can it really help me to be happier and healthier and more aware and in-tune with myself and life and therefore more at peace and happy. Yes! Who can interpret it to yield its truth in entirety. No one. Who can help me to better understand the implications and possibilities and share with me insights that feel true and will be enough to activate my own intuitive knowing and thereby assist me to make better, clear choices that will lead me to greater success and fulfillment? I can! There are others too. Yet, be aware, that many will want to tell you the future and what will happen rather than assist you with knowledge to tune-in to your own intuitive feelings a swell as work with the probabilities and possibilities available to you as a co-creative being. Rather than bring attention to you, they will secretly want to impress you with their powers over the mysteries of fate and the inconclusiveness of the future. Yet, there are others and the number is increasing daily who are also awakening to the deeper spiritually activating power of Astrology. Seek these one’s out and be discerning. Choose to live your own life. Yet recognize that much of your awareness has been conditioned unless you have made since efforts to de-condition and re-examine the beliefs, perceptions and rationalizations of your parents, family, neighbours and society and thereby activated a process of witnessing, awakening and cultivation of your being to liberate the greater individuality of your soul.

Yes, The Moon and the sign it was in at birth and its house and especially the phase it was in, New or waxing, Full or waning tells so much about your personality, proclivities, and instinctual reactions. It also tells you about what cycles of the moon are active now in your life. Using simple methods and easy to understand charts, you can see where you are now according to the cycles of the Moon. This includes the cycles of the Moon as it is in the sky from New Moon to New Moon. The area (house and sign) where these occur is activated for that time period. And the levels of insight and psychological, emotional and eventful themes that are otherwise considered random are revealed as intrinsic to yet larger cycles. These Fractal Time measurements reveal layers of the relativity of time, of its multi-dimensionality in its own right. I am referring specifically to Progressions and Returns. There are numerous types of each. Yet, the Progressed Sun/Moon is the most powerful of all. This cycle encompasses the main rhythms of your life. It does so at intervals of 29.5 years. This is the Synodic cycle of the Moon. The Synodic cycle of the Moon refers to the two approximate extra days beyond the approximate 27.5 days for the moon to complete a cycle in order for it to catch up to the Sun due to the changing relationship of the earth to the sun in its regular orbit. There is much to say about the Progressed Sun/Moon relationship but for now, it is worth noting that Saturn, which represents your father in your birth chart (and sometimes your mother if she was the dominant parent, which I refer to as switched dominance and which does have a significant influence on one’s entire life) also has a 29.5 year cycle. This is significant because the Moon and Saturn in your chart do represent your parents and if you have already had a chart done and reviewed the details of these planets you better can appreciate the validity of this statement. So, the Progressed Moon and Saturn share the same time duration in their respective cycle. That Saturn represents one’s duty and generally represents authority, is yet another indication of the power and importance of observing both of these cycles in your life. Once the themes of this cyclic authority are recognized and acknowledged and understood they can then be consciously activated and expressed and integrated.
