Introduction to the Language of Astrology

As a student and practitioner of metaphysics, I can be called a metaphysician.  Metaphysics, like its counterpart – physics, requires language codes to convey meaning.  Mathematics is the base language of physics and it is certainly full of complicated code.  To enter into discussion of Physics, one must have a firm grasp of the basics.  Then, successively, by initiation, experimentation, trial and error, the code is mastered.  With it, one can enter into discussion of related languages – each with their own logic and rules.  The same can be said of other root languages, like Latin for example.  Astrology is the same.  Related to it is Numerology, Tarot, I Ching, the Enneagram, Palmistry and many other metaphysical subjects as well.  Each is a code language based on sets of rules and parameters and, like math, they are flexible and new insights and angles are ever possible.  Making these useful is important, in the practical domain of life.

So Astrology is a language and we call it the language of the Stars.  Actually, it is the language of one star initially, and that is our sun.  Then it is a language of planets, the Moon, our very own, that is, and yes asteroids too.  “Planets” is a term that means “wandering star” – but planets are not stars. This is where the confusion begins.  Astrology is a language of planets, a star, and a moon first and foremost.  Labeling it a “language of stars” is the beginning of many misconceptions when we look back in history. We discover the ancients experienced a much more natural and holistic worldview. We have since become very specialized. In some respects this is good, but it too has lead to certain assumptions and confusion. Astronomy, Astrology, Archeoastronomy, are 3 basic areas of study.  Like math we can see parallels in Algebra, fractions and calculus.  While each share common roots, they are each their own specialization.  Yet a student without sufficient background would not be able to know all the subtle and intricate differences.  The same is true of Astrology, Astronomy and Archeoastronomy.  Other examples could be given.  The point is that people often misunderstand how, why and that Astrology works because they approach it from the outside and assume they know what they are saying.  I have seen painful evidence of this for many years and you can find plenty on YouTube. Approaching time honored subjects like Astrology begins with respect and understanding it for what it is. Astrology is a branch of metaphysics and is an archetypal code language which has many amazing and startlingly accurate insights to offer. Approaching Astrology with bias and assumption is a sign of disrespect and ignorance and there is plenty of that when it comes to this time honored metaphysical language of the soul.
