While there are many cycles, the 9 year Growth cycle is particularly useful, simple to learn and effective. Learn and practice this system to help you better understand yourself and others.

There are 3 basic rules to remember when calculating your GCN and these can also be applied to deciphering your Life Destiny Number which involves adding the year of your birth instead of the year in question as with your Growth Cycle Number.

Rule # 1: The first number to consider is the day of your birth.
If you were born on a day that has a single digit (1 – 9), then it is obvious that that day number is one of your most important personality numbers. If you were born on a double digit day, for example, 14, 24 or 31 then you simply add the two numbers to get a basic whole number as in 14 = 1 + 4 = 5. Therefore 5 is your number. Further, 2 + 4 = 6, so 6 is the personality number and so on.

Rule # 2: The second number to consider is the month of your birth. it is easy for the single digit months from January to September where January = 1 and September = 9. Then for October November and December simply add the compounded numbers thus: Oct.=10 or 1+0 =1, Nov.=11 or 1+1=2 and December = 12or 1+2=3. (Each of these months are significant beyond the compound digits. I briefly explain at the bottom - scroll down to learn more)

Rule # 3: The third number to consider is based on the addition of the numbers of your Year of your birth. For example, if you were born in 1981, for example, you would add the numbers is this number together as follows: 1+9+8+1=19 and 1+9 =1 So, you would be born in a 1 year.

Rule # 4: This important rule is about determining your Life Destiny # derived from an addition of your birth day, month and year numbers. for example, someone born on December 8th, 1981 would have the following numerological equation and result: 1+2+8+1+9+8+1= 30 and 3+0 =3. So, 30/3 would be the Destiny Number.

How to Calculate Your Growth Cycle Number (or G.C.N) for the Year

To decipher what your number is simply add the year in question with the day and number of the month of your birthday where January is 1 and December is 12.

So, for example, if your birthday is December 8 you would calculate your Growth Cycle Number for 2008 as follows:

1+2+8+2+0+0+8 = 21 and 2+1 = 3.

1+2 (for Dcember), +7 (for the day), and 2+0+0+8 (for the year).

So, 3 would be your Growth Cycle Number for 2008.

The Growth Number for the year always begins each year on January 1st. Some assert that the cycle begins on your birthday but that is wrong. The number that begins on your birthday is your age number which is closely related to the Growth Cycle Number and, in fact, they interact as overlapping and converging cycles as well.

Regarding the GCN for the year and the single whole number derived by the addition of the numbers of your age, as mentioned, they overlap.

The GCN for the year always begins on January 1st each year. However, your GNC and your age number actually overlap. These two key cycle numbers overlap  as illustrated in the example below.

If you age is say 45 and your GCN is 3 then the result would be 4+5+3 = 12 and 1+2 =3. So based on the addition of your age and GNC, you would be experiencing the influence of 3. Then on your birthday when you would be 46, according to the example, from that day on until the end of the year your compounded age and GNC # would be 4, or 4+6+3=13 and 1+3 =4.

  • In most cases there will be a discrepancy between January 1st and your actual birthday unless that is your birthday. In other words, on Janaury 1st add your new Growth Cycle Number to your current age. on your birthday during the year in question, add a year to the age cycle then add both your age # and your GNC for the year.
  • In this example of how and where Numerology and Astrology meet we gain an added glimpse into why our Birthday is important, beyond sentimental reasons and also why December 31st each year is given the honour of being the Day of the Fool. Now there justification for having a wild and crazy party on New Year's Eve!
  • This indicates that the overall number of these two key cycle numbers changes on your birthday and so offers you a sneak preview into what cycle you are in before your birthday and then after. Try it!

In Summary...

Knowing your destiny number can be very helful. It is the beginning of greater self-awareness determined by the first of literally hundreds of possible formulas and techniques. yes, Numerology is vast and exciting, espcially because it has such practical application.

Knowing your G.C.N.'s for either any year you want, and/or any month or day during that year can prove invaluable for a simple and clear glimpse into what cycles are active.

Adding your GNC and the result of your Age number is yet another key way of observing your changing cycles based on Numerology both at the onset of a New Year and on your Birth Day each year.

There is yet one other number that you can calculate in addition to your Destiny number, your GCN and your GCN and Age #. This final formula I wish to offer to you is what Numerologists calculate andunderstand to be your First Pinnacle #.

The basic rule for calculating the 1st Pinnacle #:

Simply add your day and month of birth. This resulting number is an extra important aspect of your character personality because it is very active for about the first 1/3 of your life, (based on a life lived to old age). The First Pinnacle number measures an important cycle (To the age deciphered by the result of your birth day and month minus 36) and also indicates a significant aspect of your character. Try it by adding your birth day and month number together then go back to the section on Basic Keywords above where you can gain a brief glimpse of its numerological significance and influence on your character.

There are many other aspects of Numerology, but this is a good start.

To give you a little practice, here is yet another example of...

The Year, Month and Day Growth Cycles

Now that you have some keys to better understand your personality, this section tells you more about what cycle you are in and how you can learn to be more in tune with your life.

You can determine the Year, Month and Day.

To determine the Growth Cycle for the Year, simply add you Birth Day and Month to the Year that you are in.

For example, If you were born on December 8 you would add these numbers to the current Year which is 2008: 1 + 2 + 8 + 2 + 0 + 0 + 8 = 21 & 2+1 = 3, so you would be having an 3 Growth Year.

Taking this one more step, you can determine your Growth Month by adding your Growth Year Number to the Month in Question. Following with our example, a person born on December, 8 would be in an 3 Growth Year Cycle and would add this number to the month, in this case December:

(From the example above the GNC for 2008 = 3, so...) 3 + 1 + 2 = 6,

so you would be having a 6 Month in a 3 Year.

There is one final step you can take for this and that is to determine your Growth Day. As with the Growth Month, determine which Growth Month you are in and simply add it to the day in question.

Following our example, a person born on December 8 would be in a 6 Growth Month in 2008 and to decipher the growth day for say December 1st, would add this number, 1,  to the month growth number to = 7: 1 + 6 = 7.

To Summarize, the person born on December 8 would be in an 3 Growth year, a 6 Growth Month and a 7 Growth Day on December 1st 2008.

The Growth year is the most important, but the other two can be helpful and fun when it comes to planning.  You can refer to the keywords above to gain a basic sense of what the Growth Year, Month and Day might have in store for you and/or how to best plan activities.

Conclusion

Remember, this is an introduction to Numerology, with practice you will be able to make better decisions and choices with the guidance tool of Numerology.
